ENABLING COMMUNITY GROWTH FOR THE FUTURE
CURRENT SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROJECTS
CX Focus was founded in 2016 with a clear intention to positively impact the lives of individuals and local communities which was not possible through traditional corporate employment. To this end, there are two major initiatives we support.
Building Local Testing Skills
The South African IT landscape is characterised by significant skills shortages in certain areas. One way of addressing this was the establishment of a framework to grow Information Technology skills, particularly in the area of Software Quality Assurance, a skill in high demand but typically serviced through resources from other countries. The first step in changing this was the formation of a training curriculum that falls under the Tshimologong Precinct in conjunction with partners such as WITS University and IT Ecology.
Aquaculture for Rural Communities
The second initiative, and one that is very close to our heart, is the formation of an ecosystem of rural community aquaculture farmers, funded by CX Focus through the formation of an NPO named Mwari Watipa (Shona for God has provided). The idea came from exposure to the large-scale fish farming operation run by Lake Harvest in Kariba, Zimbabwe. Whilst the Mwari Watipa model differs in nature to the large-scale, cage-based system, the purposes remain similar.
